Mozilla borrows from WebKit to build fast new JS engine
Its about time, Firefox has been getting its butt kicked by Chrome and Safari for months now. Many users have given up on Firefox specifically for this issue (including me). Let’s see if this is just hype or really something to look forward to.
First Look at SnapGroups: A Delightful Tool For Lightweight Discussion
Looks like a great service akin to Google Groups (only a little nicer interface).
Do You Follow Too Many People On Twitter? Use ManageTwitter.
This is an awesome tool. Very helpful, especially the “who is quiet, who is talkative” filter set.
Blog Changes
Well, I finally got around to updating the WordPress site with a new template – Mystique. I liked the look of the design and hope that it is not too “busy” for some of you. If it is, we’ll be moving back to Journalist “post-haste”.
Also completed the addition of Categories and moved over posts to the appropriate categories (I think). The only real problem is that a lot of my content is still only on Posterous and I cannot easily get it over here without it all being dated the day it came over. So, for now, I’ll be living with the fact that some of my content is not in a database I control. But I have faith in the Posterous team that my stuff is safe over there and eventually they will have a method for me to post back with the original dates of the postings.
Two other changes I have made are the addition of Skribit and a Twitter widget. Skribit is something I am excited about as the intent of this blog is not just to be a place to post links but also to be a permanent home for my original content. But, once of the reasons I have posting less frequently in the past months is that I have lost some of my creative energy. Skribit is a cool service that allows you, the reader, to make suggestions about what I should do next. I am not sure how many suggestions I will actually get, but even one or two will be a big help.
The back end of the Skribit service allows me to comment back on your suggestions which is an added bonus. We’ll see how this all works out but so far, I am very impressed with the ease of setup and the way it looks/acts on my site.
So, if you have an idea for what I should write next, please use the Skribit “widget” on the right and let me know. I will definitely respond back to you!
